History of Pembarti Village

Pembarti is recognized as India’s first village to make brass wares. In earlier days, people used to carve on stone to show their art among society at large. After the introduction of brass people started making carvings of it to showcase their craftsmanship. Slowly it became famous and people of Pembarti passed their craft tradition to their children so that it can be followed for many more years to come in future. People used brass and copper wares for many generations as the iron was not introduced till that time. Only after the introduction of iron, people started avoiding these products in their daily uses. Initially artists of Pembarti used to make idols of God and Koranic carvings, but later they shifted to home decor items including wall hangings, show pieces, boxes and candle holders with statues and carvings. Now a days these craftsman are also making bright fashion lights in the village.
