Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary
A beautiful lake, wild animals and a lot of Machaans – these all describe the beauty of Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is located at a distance of about 55 Km from Warangal and 230 Km from Hyderabad in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The sanctuary consists of a man-made lake which is known from the name of Pakhal lake. The sanctuary provide a home to many wild animals. The sanctuary was established in 1952 by the rulers of Karkatiya Dynasty. Pakhal Lake is a beautiful manmade lake located within the Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary. Pakhal Lake spread over an area of 30 sq km. The lake is surrounded by beautiful hills. The lake was built in 1213 A.D. by Ganapathidev, one of the Kakatiyan Rulers. Most of the rulers of earlier dynasties used to build buildings and monuments, but building a lake at that time is a wonder in itself. The lake acts as a favorite place among the migratory birds, making it the best season to visit the place. Miimum and Maximum temperature of the sanctuary varies between 15 degree celcius to 45 degree celcious respectively throughout the year. Winter months are usually pleasant and most of the inhabitants can be seen in their natural habitat during this time. November to June is the best season to visit this sanctuary. How to Reach at Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary
Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary is located at a distance of about 55 Km from the city of Warangal and 230 Km from Hyderabad. Although all means of communication are available to reach the sanctuary from both the places but it is best to use your own vehicle whenever you visit any wildlife sanctuary as the place is usually big to roam around.One can take a bus to Narsampet, which is located a distance of about 10 Km from the sanctuary and a shared auto can be taken from Narsampet to the sanctuary.

There are not many options to stay near the wildlife sanctuary. You can stay at Forest and Tourist rest house at Pakhal and Warangal both.
